bronchitis lung is severe swelling of the air passages within the lungs. It occurs when the trachea (windpipe) and the large and small bronchi (airways) within the lungs become swollen as a res;t of infection or other causes.
The condition includes the following complications: 1.The thin mucous lining of these airways can become snapy and swollen. 2.The cells that form this lining may leak fluids in response to the inflammation. 3.Coughing is a reflex that works to remove secretions from the lungs. Often the uneasiness of a violent cough leads you to resort to medical treatment. 4.Both adults and kids can get bronchitis. 5.Symptoms are same for both. 6.Kids usually get bronchiolitis, which involves the smaller airways and causes symptoms similar to asthma.
Symptoms include:
1.Coughing up extra mucus, sometimes with blood 2.Wheezing 3.Difficulty in breathing 4.Runny nose
More specifically, it may refer to:
Acute bronchitis, caused by viruses or bacteria and lasting several days or weeks Chronic bronchitis, a persistent, productive cough lasting at least three
months in two consecutive years.
Causes:
Chronic bronchitis can be caused by cigarette smoke. Acute bronchitis is often a symptom of the common cold.
In bronchitis, the membranes lining the larger air passages (bronchi) become swollen and disproportionate amount of mucus is produced. The person with bronchitis develops a severe cough to evict the mucus. Sometimes it can lead to pneumonia.Airflow into and out of the lungs is partly blocked because of the inflammation and extra mucus in the bronchi.
